A great close by hotel is Americas Best Value Inn and Suites-Calera/Birmingham, and camping at Peach Queen Campgrounds is always a great experience. This lake is so wonderful. If you need a spot to stay Days Inn Calera is a great choice, and a fine spot to camp here at Mitchell Lake is Pelham Koa Kampground. A lake close by is Nazarene Church Lake; since you're       here and you like golf, you can stop by Timberline Golf Club. If you come at the right time of year, Yellowleaf Creek - North Fork offers some good whitewater, and if you're dropping by from Birmingham-Hoover, you won't be the only one. All through the summer months at Mitchell Lake highs are regularly in the 90's with nighttime lows in the 60's. During the winter highs are in the 50's; overnight lows in the 30's for Mitchell Lake. All the water falling                  down from the sky makes Mitchell Lake a wet location; March is the month that gets the most rain, and the driest month of the year is October. This lake is so wonderful. Life's too short to enjoy all the amusing things close to Mitchell Lake.
