Getting to Horsetrough Creek from Lake McCrary is easy, and McCrary Dam is a pretty place, undeniably worth stopping at. Summertime highs at Lake McCrary usually tend to be in the 90's, and during summer nights temperatures are in the 60's. The cold days of the winter come with       highs in the 50's; during the dark hours in the winter at Lake McCrary temperatures descend to the 30's. This lake is so wonderful. Get your pulse rate up on the nice whitewater of Salt Creek, and Clay County Public Golf Course is a golf course close by. Since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always stop at close by City Lake, and whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then, we recommend Cheaha Creek. This lake is so wonderful.                  Lake McCrary sees pretty high levels of rain; March is the month that gets the most rain while October is the month with the least amount of precipitation. Not far from Lake McCrary, you'll locate Lineville Lake which is a charming lake, and a wonderful close by hotel is Country Inn & Suites By Carlson, Oxford I-20, AL. Lake McCrary truly is in the middle of a charming outdoors paradise. Hiking along the Odum Trail is nice fun.
