The crappie didn't corporate so we started bass fishing. Caught several spots and one largemouth. Total for the day was 23 spots one largemouth and one crappie that we kept. The bass were caught off a white spinnerbait with a chartreuse pork trailer and gold willow leaf. The crappie was caught off a white panfish assassin. The wind blew us all over the lake and the temp was dropping. Cold front must have pushed the crappie back to deeper water. Surface temp was 58. April 14th 2009

I fished Catoma today and didn't catch a single fish (of any species) Mainly targeted those crappie everybody has been catching, but they must have had a case of lock jaw. After about three hours of nothing I called it a day.

I am not sure how the low water conditions of this past summer and fall will affect the fishing on Catoma in the long run, but my girlfriend and I caught our limit of Crappie, two pushing the three pushing the three pound mark . We were fishing around the Hwy 157 bridge with black/chartreuse grizzly jigs.

Quality Inn Cullman is a perfect place to get some rest; get wet paddling on Two Mile Creek. An interesting thing to take a look at close to Lake Catoma is Lake Catoma Dam, and a nice close by hotel is Days Inn Cullman. This lake is so wonderful. Good Hope Campground is a fine local campground; if you've had enough of Lake Catoma, Hart Lake is nearby. During the long summer days at Lake Catoma temperatures are frequently in the 80's, and throughout the night it cools down to the 60's. Daytime highs throughout the winter are in the 40's; night lows during the wintertime for Lake Catoma tend to be in the 20's. Paddling on Flint Creek - East Fork is so much fun, and Cullman Golf Course is a golf course close by. This lake is so wonderful.
