    Johnson Lake is a great lake in an area with lots of outdoors fun all around. This lake is so wonderful. There's so much to do here at Johnson Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Mc Calla Koa Kampground is a nice site for that; dry warm beds await you at Value Place Bessemer. You'll discover a striking lake called Million Dollar Lake near Johnson Lake; whitewater paddling is tremendous on Six Mile Bend. Summertime highs at Johnson Lake regularly tend  
   to be in the 90's; during summer nights temperatures are in the 60's. All through the wintertime this place gets highs in the 50's while Johnson Lake nighttime low temperatures through the winter are in the 20's.
The high level of precipitation makes Johnson Lake a rather wet spot; during March this area sees the most rain, and September meanwhile is the driest month. From Johnson Lake you get a magnificent panorama of West Red Mountain, and lakes are such
 
               calm places, why not go to Catfish Lake. While you're here at Johnson Lake you can play some golf at Tannehill National Golf Course.
Not far from Johnson Lake you obtain some wonderful water scenery at Dream Lake Dam Number One, and a glorious place to visit nearby is Norwood Gap. And if that's not enough, there's plenty more to do in the neighborhood of Johnson Lake. This lake has been around for a long time. Years ago, before the I-20/59 interstate was built, it was indeed a great place to fish as I understand it. Now the lake is full of vegetation and difficult to fish or navigate a boat. Also difficult to enter and launch a boat as the roads leading in are washed out and muddy....
