Not far from Holcomb Lake you obtain some tremendous water scenery at Little Cahaba Creek Lake Dam, needless to say you could also go to Wild Acres Lake while you're here; it's not far at all. Here at Holcomb Lake you can make out Cedar Mountain, and Comfort Inn & Suites is a nice place to get some rest. The high level of rainfall makes Holcomb Lake a reasonably wet place; March is the wettest month with most rain, and the driest of the months is October. Dry

| | warm beds await you at Super 8 Motel - Moody, and an afternoon playing golf at Trussville Country Club is always a diversion. This lake is so wonderful. In the event that you don't mind getting dripping wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Cahaba River, and do visit Clear Branch since you're here at Holcomb Lake. with highs in the 40's; winter nights come with lows in the 20's to Holcomb Lake. So many exciting things to do here at Holcomb Lake, too nice to be true. A lake nearby is Windsong Lake. There's so much to do here at Holcomb Lake
that you need to camp here for a while, Holiday Travel Park is a brilliant site for that. This lake is so wonderful. Holcomb Lake is good enough to spend more than a day at, Alabama WMU Camp is a good local campground; Holcomb Lake is not far at all from Birmingham-Hoover.

 | 10 miles away ...produced by the current. And one was just a long series of wide wave trains. I did enjoy the rapids but even a novice paddler with a few trips under their belt could handle this section. The only bad part was the long flats inbetween the rapids. I was lucky in that I timed my trip two days after a heavy rain so the current was nice and steady. If not for that I would have been exhausted from paddling across the flats. Luckily the scenery is good and there is plenty of wildlife to enjoy. The put in at Lovic bridge is tricky. Its a pretty steep grade and full of mud and sand. I ended up just getting in my canoe and slidding down the hill into the water. Thats a good way to flip so take a friend and you could rope your boat down much easier. The take out at Grants Mill is alot nicer. It has a nice gravel parking lot and a concrete ramp down to the river with a concrete docking pad in the water. You NEED to go look at the take out before you go on your trip though. The take out is nice but its positioned weirdly.
