Dardens Lake is a good lake close to Hills Lake, and get soaked paddling on Mulberry Creek. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy this place. Paddling on Flat Shoals River is so much fun, and a great place to camp here at Hills Lake is Halawaka Campgrounds and Grocery. High temperatures at Hills Lake during the warm days of summer are in the 90's, and the night is quite chillier of course, usually in       the 60's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 50's with temperatures at Hills Lake dipping down into the 20's during winter nights. Hills Lake is a wet location that gets a lot of rainfall; March is when you get the most rain here; October is the month with the least moisture. Riverside Country Club is a wonderful golf course close by. Lakes are such peaceful locations, why not go to Simmons Lake near Hills Lake; if you need a place to stay Holiday Inn                  Express Valley, Al is a wonderful choice. This lake is so wonderful. Hills Lake is glorious enough to spend more than a day at, Blanton Creek Park is a glorious local campground; you can take a little visit to Smith Dam since you're here at Hills Lake.
