Hilldale Farm Lake is a great lake in an area with lots of outdoors fun all around. Summer brings highs in the 80's to Hilldale Farm Lake while overnight lows are typically in the 60's. High temperatures during the winter are normally in the 40's, and night lows at Hilldale Farm Lake through the wintertime generally plunge into the 20's. Dry warm beds await you at Comfort Inn & Suites, as expected you could also pop by Old Camp Cosby Lake if you're here; it's not

If you don’t have a problem getting covered with water, you can always go whitewater paddling on Cahaba River; if you came for an overnight stay Alabama WMU Camp is a wonderful location to camp. from Birmingham-Hoover. This lake is so wonderful. Not far from Hilldale Farm Lake you obtain some good water scenery at Hilldale Farm Lake Dam, and if you've had enough of Hilldale Farm Lake, Woodhaven Lake is nearby. Black Oak
Mountain is a peak you can catch a glimpse of from Hilldale Farm Lake, and Jameson Inn Trussville is a tremendous spot to get some rest. The high level of rain makes Hilldale Farm Lake a quite wet place; most of the rain falls through March, and the driest month is October.

Cahaba River
 | 12 miles away ... this part of the Cahaba and had a blast. Although it does have a class II rating I only encountered four areas where the river produced what I would call true rapids. Most of these areas were short two to three foot falls followed by a run produced by the current. And one was just a long series of wide wave trains. I did enjoy the rapids but even a novice paddler with a few trips under their belt could handle this section. The only bad part was the long flats inbetween the rapids. I was lucky in that I timed my trip two days after a heavy rain so the current was nice and steady. If not for that I would have been exhausted from paddling across the flats. Luckily the scenery is good and there is plenty of wildlife to enjoy. The put in at Lovic bridge is tricky. Its a pretty steep grade and full of mud and sand. I ended up just getting in my canoe and slidding down the hill into the water. Thats a good way to flip so take a friend and you could rope your boat down much easier.
