     Payne Lake Westside Campground is a great local campground, and you're most likely interested in lakes, Camp Horne Lake Number 1 is one of those nearby. Opossum Hollow is a perfect site to spend some time at, also Mallard Lake Dam is worth visiting since you're here. All the water falling down from the sky makes Frierson Lake a wet place; the wettest month of the year is ordinarily March, that's the one that rains the most, and October on the other hand is  
   the driest. You're sure to run into some friendly people from Tuscaloosa here, and the Payne Lake Nature Trail offers hiking at its best.
Yep, outdoors enjoyable things to do are really plentiful here at Frierson Lake. This lake has been around for a long time. Years ago, before the I-20/59 interstate was built, it was indeed a great place to fish as I understand it. Now the lake is full of vegetation and difficult to fish or navigate a boat. Also difficult to enter and launch a boat as the roads leading in are washed out and muddy....

The East Campground is primitive ... no potable water and one porta-pottie in the inner circle loop. This side might be closed for a while in 2009 for renovations. I would contact them before coming....
