Chain Lakes is nearby, and whitewater paddling is pleasant on Kings River. This lake is so wonderful. After a long day outdoors Gold Miners Hotel is a great location to spend a night or two; get drenched paddling on Matanuska River. There is a great hiking trail near Thirtymile Lake called the Chickaloon Trail; Thirtymile Lake is not the only spot close by, Fish Lake is a close by lake. Whohoo, so much enjoyable       stuff in one place! The Talkeetna Mountains is unbeatable! Going for a hike on the Chickaloon River Trail is always a wonderful adventure, and hey, Linquist Creek is a glorious local stream.
