What a nice lake Tern Lake is. A normal amount of rainfall falls here at Tern Lake; October is the wettest month with most rain while May is the month with the least amount of precipitation. Canyon Creek is a good whitewater spot next to Tern Lake, and Kenai Fjords National Park is one of the destinations that are pleasant to have a look at nearby. At Tern Lake you can catch a sight of Wrong Mountain. Lakes are brilliant; Jerome Lake is a lake that's near
   Tern Lake.
A glorious nearby hotel is Hotel Edgewater and Conference Center, and there is a delightful hiking trail close by called the Carter Lake Trail. This lake is so wonderful. Since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always go to nearby Crescent Lake; going for a hike on the Lost Lake Trail is always a good adventure. The Devils Pass Trail is a splendid hiking trail next to Tern Lake; camping at Coeur D'Alene Campground is always a wonderful

               experience.
This lake is so wonderful. Camping is available at Henry's One Stop. Summertime at Tern Lake comes with high temperatures in the 60's, and all through the night it cools down to the 40's. All through the wintertime highs are usually in the 20's while the cold winter nights at Tern Lake are in the 10's. Yeah, come here to Tern Lake for a delightful time. If you need a place to stay Trail Lake Lodge is a pleasant choice, and in case you don’t mind getting drenched, you can always go whitewater paddling on Sixmile River.

Carter Lake Trail

Took the hike from the Seward highway and it was a very well maintained trail and good parking lot with even bathrooms. The hike was very intense and switch backed multiple times. Tiny streams cross your path. Once up top it is beautiful. After some time walking threw the alpine, you come across a trail which to the left take you to the lake and to the right takes you to the bear box and camping area. It's a stocked lake so bring your rod....

Sixmile River
14 miles away
I did 6 mile this summer, what a rush!!!  Some things to know... it is a series of three canyons, the first two are considered more class IV but the third canyon is definitley class V.  There are two companies that operate on the river, Chugach Outdoor and Nova.  I went with Chugach but I hear that they are both good.  I reccomend (and give an AWA, shout out to) the guides ''Pizza'' and ''Charlie'' from Chugach outdoor, great people!  The canyons are very narrow.  Oh and the last thing.  You have to wear a dry suit and complete a swim test wearing it (in the river) before you can go.  The water is frigid and there is no room for error.  Make sure to get a suit with a good neck gasket.  Mine was loose and water rushed in the second I started swimming brrrr!  If you're looking for a great place to stay check out Alaska Wildland Adventures in Cooper Landing....

Tent Sites, RV Hookups, Pets OK, Fires OK, Nearby Grocery...TENT:When accompianied by an Rv, - 81 RV hookups, GROCERY:4 Miles...Located on 15 acres, 6 miles north of the hustle and bustle of downtown Seward, our full service park is a wonderful place to come home to after a busy day fishing and sightseeing in Seward. Sit back, relax, watch cable TV, stroll along the creek, take a hot shower, do your laundry, make a campfire in designated spots.

All our sites are 30 feet wide, allowing ample room for slide outs and even room to park your truck or car. Most sites are at least 50 feet long, and all are equipped with power (some 50 amp), water, and Sat TV. 68 sites have sewer and 38 have phone jacks. We CAN accommodate the big rigs! Creekside sites have firepit.

Enjoy the majestic beauty of the mountains that surround us. Our park is situated in a primarily residential area alongside Stoney Creek, just north of downtown Seward. We began operation in the spring of 2002 as an RV Park, and look forward to adding amenities each year to better serve you. We look forward to seeing you in Seward, and will gladly provide you with information regarding recreational activities in the Seward area. ...

Johnson Pass Trail
19 miles away
Is johnson Creek Suitable to float down in a small paddle boat?  Thanks...As a Kenai Peninsula hiker and resident, I can say that Johnson Pass Trail is a winner. It's a relatively easy, well-established trail, through beautiful alpine terrain (especially on the north side of the pass). I've done the traverse both as a long 23-mile day hike, and as a 2-day backpack. There are no established campgrounds on the trail - make your own site and leave no trace. Water is available in streams and lakes pretty much all along the trail - but filter or treat all Alaska's water. I recommend going from North to South, especially if you do it as a one-day mega hike. It's also a favorite for mountain bikers....
