Tatondan Lake is located in the Talkeetna Mountains. Summer at Tatondan Lake arrives with high temperatures in the 60's; during summer nights temperatures are in the 40's. High temperatures through the wintertime are normally in the 10's, and after the sun is down during the wintertime temperatures at Tatondan Lake sink into the-10's. Take a side journey to Gravel Creek. Do stop at Drill Lake in close proximity to       Tatondan Lake, it's a scenic lake, and whitewater paddling is perfect on Hicks Creek. You absolutely have to like the Talkeetna Mountains. You'll find a stunning lake called Index Lake near Tatondan Lake, and if you would like a little side spree, try Packsaddle Gulch. This lake is so wonderful. Gravel Creek has a pleasant whitewater paddling spot nearby, and do take a hike on the Chickaloon Knik Nelchina Trail.
