This lake is so wonderful. Edmonds Lake is a nearby lake that you could stop at; in case you don’t mind getting dripping wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Bird Creek. I did 6 mile this summer, what a rush!!!  Some things to know... it is a series of three canyons, the first two are considered more class IV but the third canyon is definitley class V.  There are two companies that operate on the river, Chugach Outdoor and Nova.  I went with Chugach but I hear that they are both good.  I reccomend (and give an AWA, shout out to) the guides ''Pizza'' and ''Charlie'' from Chugach outdoor, great people!  The canyons are very narrow.  Oh and the last thing.  You have to wear a dry suit and complete a swim test wearing it (in the river) before you can go.  The water is frigid and there is no room for error.  Make sure to get a suit with a good neck gasket.  Mine was loose and water rushed in the second I started swimming brrrr!  If you're looking for a great place to stay check out Alaska Wildland Adventures in Cooper Landing....
