Summertime brings highs in the 60's to Shelter Lake with nighttime lows in the 40's. High temperatures throughout the wintertime are normally in the 20's, and through the dark hours in the winter at Shelter Lake temperatures dip to the 20's. Shelter Lake is a rather wet place frequently with a lot of rain; the month of October is the wettest with most of the rain; April is when it's the driest. This lake is so wonderful.       If you came for an overnight stay Spruce Meadow Recreational Vehicle Park is a magnificent location to camp, and you can go for a hike on the Montana Creek Trail. The Sand Beach is in the neighborhood of Shelter Lake and is a gorgeous beach to visit, and Best Western Grandma's Feather Bed is a glorious spot to get some rest. Peterson                  Lake is nearby; a splendid location for whitewater paddling is Montana Creek. Camping is available at Auke Bay RV Park, and Favorite Reef is nearby, and is a pleasant place. Shelter Lake is not the only location close by, Salt Lake is a close by lake, and going for a hike on the Bear Creek Trail is always a fine adventure. This lake is so wonderful. Don't leave Shelter Lake without first going for a hike along the Spaulding Trail.
