If you are traveling by, why not stop by Rush Lake. Rush Lake gets very little rainfall; throughout the month of July you get the most rain around here, and April is the month with the least moisture. There's whitewater on Chickaloon River for all you adrenaline rush seekers, and since you're here at Rush Lake it's a fine idea to stop by Boulder Creek Flats. This lake is one of the great places here in the Talkeetna Mountains.

Whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then we recommend Coal Creek; a scenic lake like Bonnie Lake is a splendid place to explore. This lake is so wonderful. A quick journey to Black Shale Creek near Rush Lake is a good idea; do take a hike on the Chickaloon Knik Nelchina Trail. Summer at Rush Lake arrives with high temperatures in the 60's. wintertime comes with highs in the 10's, and during the dark hours in the winter at Rush Lake temperatures drop to the-10's.
Hiking along the Chickaloon River Trail is perfect fun.
