    Do stop by Rush Lake while you're in this part of Alaska. You clearly have to like Rush Lake. While you're here at Rush Lake it's a brilliant idea to stop by Boulder Creek Flats, and tremendous hiking is available along the Chickaloon River Trail. Rush Lake is pretty dehydrated generally; through the month of July you get the most rain around here, and April is the month with the least moisture.
This lake is so wonderful. Whitewater paddling is not for everybody
 
   but if it's for you then we recommend Coal Creek, and naturally Black Shale Creek is a wonderful stream that is worth taking a look at. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy the Talkeetna Mountains. There's whitewater on Chickaloon River for all you adrenaline kick people; do take a look at Upper Bonnie Lake, it's a beautiful lake. Rush Lake is located in the Talkeetna Mountains.
Ravine Lake is a nearby lake that you could explore, and don't leave Rush Lake without
 
               first going for a hike along the Chickaloon Knik Nelchina Trail. For the period of the warm months, highs commonly are in the 60's at Rush Lake while nighttime lows are generally in the 40's. For the period of the winter highs are in the 10's, and night lows in the-10's for Rush Lake.

My family built the cabin about 3 miles off the hwy. in '57 overlooking the river.  The creek at the bottom of the hill below the cabin is Gin Creek, named after my mom (Ginger).  We've hiked about 12 miles up the trail and all over the area.  Many fond memories....
