    If you are in this part of Alaska make sure to pay a visit to Ptarmigan Lake. An average amount of precipitation falls at Ptarmigan Lake; the month with most of the rain is October; May on the other hand is the driest. Going for a hike on the Johnson Pass Trail is always a brilliant adventure; if you come at the right time of year, Sixmile River offers some great whitewater. Andy Simons Mountain is a peak you can observe from Ptarmigan Lake, and a nice close  
   by hotel is Trail Lake Lodge.
At Ptarmigan Lake throughout the warm days of summer highs are in the 60's, and the nighttime is somewhat chillier of course, usually in the 40's. Through the wintertime this place gets highs in the 20's, and overnight lows during the wintertime for Ptarmigan Lake tend to be in the 10's. There's just no way anyone can get bored here at Ptarmigan Lake. Near Ptarmigan Lake you find the Grant Lake Trail which is a brilliant hiking
 
               trail, and if you need a place to stay Alaska Hamptons is a fine choice. This lake is so wonderful. You'll need more than a day to explore everything Ptarmigan Lake has to offer, you can camp at Primrose Landing Campground; if you have time to spare, Kenai Fjords National Park is a national park worth stopping at.
There are some great whitewater spots on Canyon Creek. There is a delightful hiking trail next to Ptarmigan Lake called the Paradise Valley Trail. There's so much to do here at Ptarmigan Lake that you need to camp here for a while, A Creekside Trailer Park is a good place for that.
