Alaska has many beautiful lakes and Portage Lake is one of them. Just can't get enough of the Chugach Mountains. Twentymile River is a fine whitewater spot near Portage Lake. All the water falling down from the sky makes Portage Lake a wet site; October is the wettest month with most rain; May is when it's the driest. perfect location to check out. While staying at Portage Lake you could always look at Bear Valley, and lakes are such calm places, why not visit Divide Lake. This lake is so wonderful. Why not camp at Beaver Pond Campground if you're here at Portage Lake; the skiing at Alyeska is great.

 | 7 PHOTOS I think Alyeska has the highest elevation drop in Alaska but I could be wrong. Needless to say we're pretty ok with snow up here in Alaska, there's so much snow here you can't believe it. The skiing is perfect perfect! I cannot get enough of this mountain ever! Do wear plenty of clothes though.... |
