Get dripping wet paddling on Nellie Juan River, and there's nice hiking along the Johnson Pass Trail. For the period of the summertime highs here at Paradise Lakes reach the 60's. Once the sun is down it dips down to the 40's. The winter comes with highs in the 20's, and nighttime lows in the 10's for Paradise Lakes. This lake is so wonderful. After a long day outdoors The Hotel Alyeska is a tremendous site to spend a night or two, and camping at Beaver Pond

| | Campground is always a pleasant experience. Paradise Lakes frequently gets lots of rain; of all the months in a year October is the one with the most rain, and May is when it's the driest. Paradise Lakes is brilliant enough to spend more than a day at, Portage Valley RV Park and Cabin Rentals is a brilliant local campground, and great hiking is available along the Paradise Valley Trail. Whohoo, so much exciting stuff in one place! Paradise Lakes is excellent! | |

There are other locations here than Paradise Lakes, for example Upper Paradise Lake. Soar down the rapids of Portage River in a kayak, and Lower Paradise Lake is a great lake nearby.

Johnson Lake
 | 17 miles away 1 PHOTO Johnson Lake is is pure bliss. only electric motors are allowed & like all Alaskan lakes, no live bait. Is stocked w/trout, but that doesn't mean they are stupid fish! sorry about the poor picture, but gives you an idea... Johnsons Lake is an amazing place for family camping. The lake is great to swim in and has alot of fish to catch.... |
Johnson Pass Trail
 | 18 miles away Is johnson Creek Suitable to float down in a small paddle boat? Thanks...As a Kenai Peninsula hiker and resident, I can say that Johnson Pass Trail is a winner. It's a relatively easy, well-established trail, through beautiful alpine terrain (especially on the north side of the pass). I've done the traverse both as a long 23-mile day hike, and as a 2-day backpack. There are no established campgrounds on the trail - make your own site and leave no trace. Water is available in streams and lakes pretty much all along the trail - but filter or treat all Alaska's water. I recommend going from North to South, especially if you do it as a one-day mega hike. It's also a favorite for mountain bikers.... |
Alyeska
 | 25 miles away 7 PHOTOS I think Alyeska has the highest elevation drop in Alaska but I could be wrong. Needless to say we're pretty ok with snow up here in Alaska, there's so much snow here you can't believe it. The skiing is perfect perfect! I cannot get enough of this mountain ever! Do wear plenty of clothes though.... |
