Why not go to nearby Salmon Creek since you're here at Miami Lake; get your heart beating on the       nice whitewater of Talkeetna River. If time allows, Denali National Park & Preserve is a national park worth taking a look at, and whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then, we recommend Chulitna River. Throughout the summertime at Miami Lake highs are typically in the 60's, and the night is a little chillier of course, regularly in the 40's.
