Throughout the days of summer here at McKinley Lake, high temperatures mostly get into the 60's, and during summer nights temperatures are in the 40's. The winter brings highs down to the 30's with temperatures at McKinley Lake dipping down into the 10's throughout winter nights. Go for a hike on the Lake Elsner Trail, and nearby you locate the McKinley Lake Trail which is a tremendous hiking       trail. This is a wonderful region for people who like lakes. Pipeline Lake is a lake in the vicinity, and Wrangell - St Elias National Park & Preserve is a good national park. So many exciting things to do in the Chugach Mountains, not enough time. Lakes are perfect; Middle Lake is a lake that's near McKinley Lake, and going for a hike on the Sheridan Mountain Trail is always a nice adventure. This lake is so wonderful. Glacier River is a fine whitewater spot                  right next door to McKinley Lake, and obviously Salmon Creek flows through this area. You clearly have to love McKinley Lake.
