McKinley Lake mostly gets a great deal of rainfall; during the month of September you get the most rain around here while July is the month with the least amount of precipitation. So much amusing stuff to do in the Chugach Mountains, not enough       time. Take a little spree to Salmon Creek since you're here at McKinley Lake, and going for a hike on the Lake Elsner Trail is always a great adventure. This lake is one of the great places here in the Chugach Mountains. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy this place. You can run the rapids of Glacier River near McKinley Lake; the McKinley Lake Trail is a glorious hiking trail close by. High temperatures at McKinley Lake during the months of summer are in                  the 60's. When the night sets in temperatures drop down into the 40's. Daytime highs throughout the winter are in the 30's while McKinley Lake overnight low temperatures through the winter are in the 10's. This lake is so wonderful.
