A quick trip to Walker Creek next to Lake McDonald is a perfect idea, and if you came for an overnight stay Settlers Cove Campground is a fine place to camp. At Lake McDonald through the summertime months highs are in the 60's, and through the night it cools down to the 40's. This lake is so wonderful. Lake McDonald is not the only spot nearby, Boulder Lake is a nearby lake, and Alaskan Fishing Adventures is a magnificent campground nearby. A lake nearby is Standing Rock Lake; Salmon Falls Resort is a magnificent location to get some rest. Lake McDonald gets a great deal of water; the month with most of the rain is October, and the driest month is June.
