This lake is so wonderful. Visiting Katmai National Park & Preserve is just something you need to do if you haven't yet, and a brilliant place for whitewater paddling is Ship Creek. And if that's not enough, there's lots more to do in the vicinity of Lake Kiowa. A good place to camp here at Lake Kiowa is Centennial and Lions Campground; Lake Kiowa is a site with many       visitors from Anchorage. Why not camp at Hidden Heaven RV Park since you're here at Lake Kiowa, and on a great day you can take a hike along the Bird Creek Trail. If only every location had this much outdoors entertaining stuff, what a great earth it would be. After a long day outdoors Ramada Limited Anchorage is a good location to spend a night or two, and if you've had enough of Lake Kiowa, Ship Creek Reservoir is nearby. This lake is so wonderful. Skiing                  at Alpenglow At Arctic Valley is one of those things you just have to do, and let's not forget Fossil Creek which is a stream that you may run into while here. Lake Kiowa is usually a pretty arid place; the month with most of the rain is September while April is the month with the least amount of precipitation. Throughout the months of summer at Lake Kiowa highs are usually in the 60's. Throughout the dark hours of summer temperatures sink down into the 50's. Highs through the wintertime are mostly in the 10's, and nighttime lows through the winter for Lake Kiowa tend to be in the 0's.
