Carter Lake Trail
 | 1 PHOTO Took the hike from the Seward highway and it was a very well maintained trail and good parking lot with even bathrooms. The hike was very intense and switch backed multiple times. Tiny streams cross your path. Once up top it is beautiful. After some time walking threw the alpine, you come across a trail which to the left take you to the lake and to the right takes you to the bear box and camping area. It's a stocked lake so bring your rod.... |

Sixmile River
 | 19 miles away I did 6 mile this summer, what a rush!!! Some things to know... it is a series of three canyons, the first two are considered more class IV but the third canyon is definitley class V. There are two companies that operate on the river, Chugach Outdoor and Nova. I went with Chugach but I hear that they are both good. I reccomend (and give an AWA, shout out to) the guides ''Pizza'' and ''Charlie'' from Chugach outdoor, great people! The canyons are very narrow. Oh and the last thing. You have to wear a dry suit and complete a swim test wearing it (in the river) before you can go. The water is frigid and there is no room for error. Make sure to get a suit with a good neck gasket. Mine was loose and water rushed in the second I started swimming brrrr! If you're looking for a great place to stay check out Alaska Wildland Adventures in Cooper Landing.... |
