Index Lake is always a pleasure to visit. Summertime highs at Index Lake mostly tend to be in the 60's, and through the night it cools down to the 40's. For the duration of the winter the highs are usually in the 10's, and after the sun is down during the wintertime temperatures at Index Lake dip into the-10's. This lake is so wonderful. Don't leave Index Lake without first going for a hike along the Chickaloon Knik Nelchina Trail. Now, you may assume that's

| | a load but there's even more fun things to do here in the Talkeetna Mountains. Don't forget to take a splendid little spree to Hicks Creek; there are some glorious whitewater spots on Gravel Creek.
Index Lake is a location that is reasonably waterless frequently; throughout July this area sees the most rain, and the driest month is April. Whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then we recommend Hicks Creek, and one of the governing highlights | |
