This lake is so wonderful. Ophir Creek is one of the streams close by that might be worth taking a look at; Point Sherman is very near and is a glorious site to visit. Good hiking is available along the Nahku Portage; a lake nearby is Evelyn Lake. Halsingland Hotel is a nice       location to get some rest. At Independence Lake all through the summertime highs are in the 60's with night lows in the 40's. Through the wintertime the highs are usually in the 20's while Independence Lake overnight low temperatures during the wintertime are in the 10's.
