If you come at the right time of year, Matanuska River offers some great whitewater, needless to say you could also explore Bench Lake if you're here; it's not far at all. Soar down the rapids of Hicks Creek in a kayak; almost certainly you're looking for nearby lakes? Sure, Hicks Lake is just a very short distance away.
