A trip to Katmai National Park & Preserve is worthwhile, and Hess Lake is splendid enough to spend more than a day at, Hidden Heaven RV Park is a splendid local campground. If you want a splendid time in the great outdoors, just come on down to Hess       Lake. This lake is so wonderful. A fine close by hotel is Anchorage Area (Eagle River)Alaska, and if you're going to from Anchorage, you won't be the only one. Hess Lake is a beautiful lake in the Talkeetna Mountains. Around Hess Lake you don’t get a lot of precipitation; the month with most of the rain is September, and the driest month is April. For the period of the summer at Hess Lake highs are ordinarily in the 60's. When the night sets in temperatures                  descend down into the 50's. During the winter this place gets highs in the 10's with temperatures at Hess Lake dipping down into the 0's during winter nights. Life's too short to enjoy all the exciting stuff in the Talkeetna Mountains.
