Elks Campground is a delightful local campground; if you need a location to stay Gold Miners Hotel is a perfect choice. It is very dried up here at Elks Lake generally; September is the wettest month with most rain, and the driest month of the year is March. This lake is located in the wonderful Talkeetna Mountains. Summertime highs at Elks Lake generally tend to be in the 60's. For the period of the moonlight       hours it's generally in the 40's. During the wintertime the highs are typically in the 20's; overnight lows in the 0's for Elks Lake. This lake is so wonderful. While you're here at Elks Lake you can play some golf at Palmer Golf Course; if you come at the right time of year, Wolverine Creek offers some tremendous whitewater. Now, you may imagine that's a load but there's even more entertaining stuff to do here at Elks Lake. Glide down the rapids of Moose                  Creek in a kayak, and Kleinsmith Lake is a wonderful lake close by. If you're here, you might as well stop by Tsadaka Canyon, and there are other places here than Elks Lake, for example Wishbone Lake. If you fancy the outdoors you'll fancy it here in the Talkeetna Mountains. Moose Creek Campground is a nice campground nearby, and Moose Creek is one of the streams nearby that might be worth stopping at. This spot, the Talkeetna Mountains, has so much outdoors cool things.
