Do stop by Drill Lake while you're in this part of Alaska. This lake is so wonderful. A brilliant place close to Drill Lake is Packsaddle Gulch. Drill Lake is one of the lakes here in the Talkeetna Mountains. Life's too short to enjoy all the fun things in the Talkeetna Mountains. Hicks Creek has a nice whitewater paddling spot close by; Drill Lake is right by the Chickaloon Knik Nelchina Trail.
If you don't mind getting drenched, you can always go whitewater

| | paddling on Gravel Creek, and swing by Gravel Creek it's a pleasant place to pop by. Not much rain falls here at Drill Lake; the month with most of the rain is July, and April is the month with the least moisture. Summer brings highs in the 60's to Drill Lake with overnight lows in the 40's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 10's while the cold winter nights at Drill Lake are in the-10's.
