The Chickaloon Trail is a delightful hiking trail in the neighborhood of Drill Lake, and Chickaloon River is a fine whitewater spot nearby. This lake is so wonderful. There are other locations here than Drill Lake, for example Harrison Lake; if the weather is great, you can go for a hike along the Chickaloon River Trail. Dry warm beds await you at Gold Miners Hotel, and a great place       for whitewater paddling is Matanuska River. That right there is loads already, but it continues; Drill Lake has it all. The Talkeetna Mountains scenery is always beautiful. Kings Mountain is easy to spot from Drill Lake; lakes are such calm locations, why not stop by Fish Lake. Drill Lake gets very little rainfall; the wettest month of the year is regularly September, that's the one that rains the most, and March is the month with the least moisture.                  Through the summertime, highs generally are in the 60's at Drill Lake with night lows in the 40's.
