Whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then we recommend Mendenhall River. You'll need more than a day to look at everything Dredge Lake has to offer, you can camp at Auke Bay RV Park. This lake is so wonderful. While you're here at Dredge Lake you can take a hike along the Lemon Creek Trail, and let's not forget Arastra       Creek which is a stream that you may run into during your stay. Not far from Dredge Lake, you'll come across Mendenhall Lake which is a beautiful lake, and Eaglecrest is a perfect local ski area. A pleasant nearby hotel is Super 8 Juneau. Lakes are delightful; Nugget Creek is a lake that's in the vicinity of Dredge Lake. And that's not all you can do here at Dredge Lake. Have a good hiking adventure along the Nugget Creek Trail, and you can stay the night                  at Spruce Meadow Recreational Vehicle Park. At Dredge Lake through the warm months highs are in the 60's while overnight lows are frequently in the 40's. High temperatures during the wintertime are normally in the 20's, and after the sun is down during the wintertime temperatures at Dredge Lake sink into the 20's. This lake is so wonderful. After a long day outdoors Pearsons Pond Inn and Spa is a nice site to spend a night or two, and there's always Nugget Creek Dam to take a look at close to Dredge Lake. Lots of folks from Juneau come to Dredge Lake.
