Don't leave Crater Lake without first going for a hike along the Lake Elsner Trail, and soar down the rapids of Power Creek in a kayak. These mountains rock, just check out all the entertaining things to do in the Chugach Mountains. From Crater Lake you acquire a perfect view of Mount Eyak, and if you come at the right time of year, Wortmann's Creek offers some nice whitewater. This is no site for people who don’t like to       have a good time. If you need a place to stay Valdez Harbor Inn is a tremendous choice, and Scout Lake is a nearby lake that you could stop by. This lake is so wonderful. Good hiking is available along the Sheridan Mountain Trail; obviously Humpback Creek flows through this area. All the water falling down from the sky makes Crater Lake a wet place; of all the months in a year September is the one with the most rain; the driest month is July. You just ought                  to love the Chugach Mountains. This lake is located in the wonderful Chugach Mountains. Summer brings highs in the 60's to Crater Lake. When the night sets in temperatures sink down into the 40's. Highs through the wintertime are mostly in the 30's with winter lows in the 10's overnight here at Crater Lake.
