     Why not camp at Moose River Recreational Vehicle Park since you're here at Contact Lake; a good close by hotel is Kenai Princess Wilderness Lodge. Contact Lake is pretty dehydrated usually; throughout September this area sees the most rain, and April is the month with the least moisture. This lake is so wonderful. This is a brilliant vicinity for folks who like lakes. Canoe Lake Chain is a lake nearby. During the days of summer highs here at Contact Lake reach  
   the 60's. Summer overnight lows drop down to the 40's. Daytime highs all through the winter are in the 20's while Contact Lake overnight low temperatures through the winter are in the 0's.
Since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always stop at nearby Sucker Lake; if you came for an overnight stay Big Sky Charter & Fish Camp is a splendid place to camp.

I went to this lake a couple of years ago when we visited family there.  I am from VA.  It is the site of an abandoned state park.  To make a long story short, it lacks facilities. It is REALLY out of the way.  The lake there has fossilized trees jutting from the perimeter and is wild with waterborne vegetation.  The view is ASTONIGHING from the top of the park.  As the sun set, I was literally brought to tears by the expanse and beauty of what I saw.  It changed my life....
