Why not camp at Centennial and Lions Campground since you're here at Cheney Lake. Get yourself into a kayak and hit Ship Creek, and if you need a place to stay SpringHill Suites Anchorage University Lake is a delightful choice. Cheney Lake is a location that is quite dried up mostly; during September this       area sees the most rain, and the driest month of the year is April. A perfect spot to camp here at Cheney Lake is Golden Nugget Camper Park, and do take a look at Lake 'O' the Hills, it's a striking lake. So much entertaining stuff to do here at Cheney Lake, too fine to be true. A visit to Russian Jack Springs will fill your spirit with good feelings, and get wet paddling on Campbell Creek. This lake is so wonderful. The best way to spend a winter day                  is on the slopes of close by Hilltop; as expected, all our national parks are magnificent locations to stop by and Katmai National Park & Preserve is no exception. At Cheney Lake during the summer months highs are in the 60's. When the night sets in temperatures descend down into the 50's.
