     Big Sky Charter & Fish Camp is a fine campground nearby, and after a long day outdoors Kenai Princess Wilderness Lodge is a good site to spend a night or two. For the duration of the months of summer, highs typically are in the 60's at Canoe Lake. Throughout the dark hours of summer temperatures plunge down into the 40's. During the winter the highs are frequently in the 20's with winter lows in the 0's overnight here at Canoe Lake. Canoe Lake is pretty dried  
   out usually; of all the months in a year September is the one with the most rain; the driest month of the year is April. This lake is so wonderful. This is a perfect neighborhood for folks who like lakes. Sucker Lake is a lake around here.

I went to this lake a couple of years ago when we visited family there.  I am from VA.  It is the site of an abandoned state park.  To make a long story short, it lacks facilities. It is REALLY out of the way.  The lake there has fossilized trees jutting from the perimeter and is wild with waterborne vegetation.  The view is ASTONIGHING from the top of the park.  As the sun set, I was literally brought to tears by the expanse and beauty of what I saw.  It changed my life....
