Sure, Middle Lake is in close proximity, and get covered with water paddling on Glacier River. A journey to Wrangell - St Elias National Park & Preserve is recommended; hiking is a popular thing to do around Cabin Lake; Eyak Trail is a perfect local trail. This lake is so wonderful. Since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always stop at close by Lake Elsner, and don't leave Cabin Lake without first going for a hike along the Lake Elsner Trail.       Cabin Lake is a pretty wet place commonly with much rainfall; most of the rain falls during September; the driest of the months is July. Soar down the rapids of Power Creek in a kayak, and there's perfect hiking along the Sheridan Mountain Trail. For the duration of the summertime highs here at Cabin Lake get into the 60's, and the nighttime is a tad cooler of course, commonly in the 40's.
