Little Shell, Kenedy County, Texas   I WANT TO FISH HERE. Says PETE VIGIL Little Shell is on Padre Island National Seashore operated by the National Parks Service.  I wrote a small portion about Little Shell because to get to Little Shell you usually need a 4 wheel drive vehicle and it is often ''4 low'' in the Little Shell area.  That is the reason you won't find the usual beach crowds. You may want to add for people considering going to Little Shell to contact the National Parks Service at (361) 949-8068 for driving conditions or they may end up getting stuck in the sand and     shells and have to dig their vehicle out with a shovel or ask someone to tow them out.  I fish in this area and would not like to see a tourist to get stuck and ruin their vacation because they think it is easy driving.  The National Parks Service actually has a sign that says ''4X4 Driving Only'' miles before getting to Little Shell.  As an example, on the 4th of July weekend this year I saw two vehicles get stuck on Padre Island National Seashore and high tides resulting in one person loosing their vehicle...it was a total loss because after getting stuck in soft sand the tides came in and the vehicle ended up being in 3 feet of salt water. Says Hotels are slightly far from the beach. LOL  Little shell is generally 4X4 driving on Padre Island National Seashore to get to which is why you don't see the great crowds   as stated.  Fun place for fishing away from the crowds and many a Texas fisherman have slumbered in their vehicle or tents at Little Shell. Says DC Little Shell is not an enormously packed segment of shoreline, and there's nice natural attractiveness waiting here for you along it. The nearby places to stay are somewhat far from the beach, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your vehicle. This is such a charming segment of coast. The touching of the water and the coastline is such a beautiful sight. For all you camping folks there are campgrounds close by. As if Little Shell wasn't enough you can also go boating, fishing, and swimming, so you won’t get bored. Texas has scores of beaches. High temperatures at Little Shell through the warm days of summer are in the 90's. Summer nighttime lows drop down to the 70's. High temperatures during the wintertime are normally in the 60's with winter lows in the 40's overnight here at Little Shell. From a rain point of view Little Shell is a pretty common site; the month of September is the wettest with most of the rain, and March meanwhile is the driest month.
