Says PETE VIGIL Little Shell is on Padre Island National Seashore operated by the National Parks Service.  I wrote a small portion about Little Shell because to get to Little Shell you usually need a 4 wheel drive vehicle and it is often ''4 low'' in the Little Shell area.  That is the reason you won't find the usual beach crowds. You may want to add for people considering going to Little Shell to contact the National Parks Service at (361) 949-8068 for driving conditions or they may end up getting stuck in the sand and     shells and have to dig their vehicle out with a shovel or ask someone to tow them out.  I fish in this area and would not like to see a tourist to get stuck and ruin their vacation because they think it is easy driving.  The National Parks Service actually has a sign that says ''4X4 Driving Only'' miles before getting to Little Shell.  As an example, on the 4th of July weekend this year I saw two vehicles get stuck on Padre Island National Seashore and high tides resulting in one person loosing their vehicle...it was a total loss because after getting stuck in soft sand the tides came in and the vehicle ended up being in 3 feet of salt water. Says Hotels are slightly far from the beach. LOL  Little shell is generally 4X4 driving on Padre Island National Seashore to get to which is why you don't see the great crowds       as stated.  Fun place for fishing away from the crowds and many a Texas fisherman have slumbered in their vehicle or tents at Little Shell. Says DC Little Shell doesn’t have many conveniences, but loads of people like to come here to be close to the water. We all must go   to the beach occasionally; Little Shell in Kenedy County, Texas is a wonderful site for getting out. The blue breakers striking a picturesque coast is such a wonderful sight. You can raise that tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. At this section of coast you will always have a ball. There are more pursuits here other than simply hanging out at the beach like boating, swimming, and fishing, so it's impossible to get bored. You may well have to settle for a hotel a far away from the beach if you want to spend a night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up snoozing in your vehicle. An average amount of rain falls at Little Shell; September is when you get the most rain here, and the driest month of the year is March. For the duration of the summer at Little Shell highs are ordinarily in the 90's. When the night sets in temperatures fall down into the 70's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 60's, and night lows throughout the wintertime for Little Shell tend to be in the 40's.
