There is a good hiking trail in close proximity to Jamaica Beach called the Galveston Island State Park Trail, and nearby you locate Carancahua Cove. A day at Pirates Beach close to Jamaica Beach is time well spent. Jamaica Beach mostly gets a good deal of rain; through the month of September you get the most rain around here, and March is the month with the least moisture. For the duration of the long summer days here at Jamaica Beach, high temperatures regularly reach the 90's, and all through summer nights temperatures are in the 70's.
