If you want to hit the beach, Arcadia Beach is in the vicinity, and there are some fine whitewater spots on Nehalem River. That right there is plenty already, but it carries on; Short Sand Beach has it all. This is a popular site for folks from Astoria, and get yourself into a kayak and hit Kilchis River - North Fork. Round Mountain is a peak   you can make out from Short Sand Beach; a visit to Oswald West State Park when you're here is never a bad idea. Throughout the warm days of summer here at Short Sand Beach, high temperatures usually get into the 60's. Through the moonlight hours it's commonly in the 50's. Daytime highs throughout the wintertime are in the 50's; winter nights come with lows in the 30's to Short Sand Beach. Short Sand Beach is a rather wet place ordinarily with a large amount of precipitation; December is the month that gets the most rain, and August on the other hand is the driest.
