Moores Beach, Cumberland County, New Jersey

Just visited Moores Beach this past weekend (10/9/06). Moores Beach Road (aka 2 mile run) no longer takes you directly to the beach. You can drive in about 1/4 mile and park at a sandy lot right past the residences. The rest of the road is filled with shallow to knee-high puddles that you can maneuver with waterproof footwear though some have slightly slippery mud bottoms. Small fiddler crabs scatter upon your approach, egrets take flight and butterflies fill the bushes along the way. A wonderful sight of the sun on the bay when you reach the beach but
the beach is littered with concrete blocks and wires from yesteryear. We even spotted a kitchen sink and a bicycle rusted into the surf. Not the type of beach to set up camp to swim and frolic on, more of a birdwatchers haven. Says

We all gotta stop at the beach sometimes,
and Moores Beach in Cumberland County, New Jersey is precisely the location. There's camping available next to Moores Beach. Moores Beach doesn’t have loads of amenities, but being at the beach is such an enjoyable thing to do, and this is a fine place to do that. Coming to this slice of shore is always a glorious idea. The close by hotels are a little far from the beach, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up snoozing in your automobile. Among the enjoyable stuff you can do near Moores Beach are boating, swimming, and fishing, so one won't
be short of enjoyable stuff to do. The way the water converges with the shoreline is a beautiful panorama. On a great day it's a great idea to spend the day at Thompsons Beach, and this is a popular location for folks from Ocean City. A trip to New Jersey Coastal Heritage Trail Route is recommended; you can hit the beach if you want, Cooks Beach is practically right here. The high level of rain makes Moores Beach a relatively wet place; the wettest month of the year is commonly March, that's the one that rains the most, and the driest month of the year is October. Summertime highs at Moores Beach generally tend to be in the 80's. For the period of the dark hours of summer temperatures drop down into the 60's. All through the winter the highs are generally in the 30's, and overnight lows at Moores Beach during the wintertime generally descend into the 20's.
