Just visited Moores Beach this past weekend (10/9/06). Moores Beach Road (aka 2 mile run) no longer takes you directly to the beach. You can drive in about 1/4 mile and park at a sandy lot right past the residences. The rest of the road is filled with shallow to knee-high puddles that you can maneuver with waterproof footwear though some have slightly slippery mud bottoms. Small fiddler crabs scatter upon your approach, egrets take flight and butterflies fill the bushes along the way. A wonderful sight of the sun on the bay when you reach the beach but
the beach is littered with concrete blocks and wires from yesteryear. We even spotted a kitchen sink and a bicycle rusted into the surf. Not the type of beach to set up camp to swim and frolic on, more of a birdwatchers haven. Says

Moores Beach is not an enormously visited
slice of shore, but it's always fun to be here. This segment of coastline is so delightful. New Jersey is a great place for beach people. The forceful water and the New Jersey coast is a view worth seeing. If you love nature, you won’t be disappointed; there's swimming, boating, and fishing, so there's no way to get bored. If spending too much time inside got you down, no problem, Moores Beach in Cumberland County, New Jersey is exactly what you require. There aren’t any lodgings around here but if you're ok to drive a small length then no problem but
do reserve a room previous to going since it is a very popular destination. New Jersey Coastal Heritage Trail Route is a nice national park, and on a delightful day you can take a look at Thompsons Beach. There are plenty of folks from Ocean City here at Moores Beach, and a trip
to Cooks Beach is always a nice idea. Summer brings highs in the 80's to Moores Beach. For the period of the dark hours of summer temperatures drop down into the 60's. Daytime highs through the winter are in the 30's with temperatures at Moores Beach dipping down into the 20's through winter nights. Moores Beach is a reasonably wet place typically with much rainfall; March is the wettest month with most rain; the driest month of the year is October.
