However, Isle Royale is over 100 miles (by boat) from Second Sand Beach, Second Sand Beach IS part of Sand Bay, Rock Point is private property (not accessible by the public) and the Silver River empties a considerable distance away. There's so much entertaining stuff to do in close proximity to Second Sand Beach including fishing, boating, swimming, whitewater paddling, and hiking, so you won't be without entertaining stuff to do. You could have to settle for a hotel a far from the beach if you want to stay an extra day, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up slumbering in your vehicle. Second Sand Beach is not far at all from Houghton, and if you haven’t been to Isle Royale National   Park, you must schedule some time for it if you're here.
