Mayo Beach, Anne Arundel County, Maryland Custom Search   In 1964-65 my band the Chauntels played the Mayo Beach dances during the summer. What great memories. I would like to locate any photo's of The Chauntels band that were taken at that time. I have one taken with me and one of our fans. As a teenager growing up in Silver Spring, MD, we spent many weekends at Mayo Beach. We had close friends who had a weekend home on the bay at Mayo Beach and we spent countless hours on their     small boat dock dangling chicken necks tied onto lines and lowered into the water to capture the blue crabs. Once the crabs started feeding on the chicken necks, we would slowly pull the lines up and take a hand held net and capture them. The reward from this activity was a pot full of delicious, steamed blue crabs for dinner. It sounds like those times are gone! In the summer, you can enter on Sunday afternoon. I found the public park NOT open that Sunday afternoon. Says bernie hale In Maryland you'll never be short of beach fun. If you're a camper you can raise that tent of yours at one of the tremendous campgrounds in close proximity. A section of shoreline such as this is too perfect to miss. Mayo Beach is not an incredibly crowded piece of coastline, and it is a fun spot for everybody. As if Mayo Beach wasn't enough you can also go fishing, golfing, swimming, whitewater paddling, and boating, so you won’t turn bored. The close by places to stay are a tad far away from the beach, and if you make reservations in advance of a trip you're all set. Ok, you've been cooped up too long, and Mayo Beach in Anne Arundel County, Maryland is a tremendous site for getting out. South River is a delightful spot to check out, and do schedule some time to stop at Saunders Point if you have a chance. At Anchor Yacht Basin close to Mayo Beach there are some out of the ordinary things to see, and you can spend the day on the beach at Triton Beach. Golf can be played at Annapolis Country Club, and a day at picturesque Carrs Beach close to Mayo Beach is a brilliant thing to do. Playing golf is lots of fun at Glenn Dale Golf Club; Ramsay Lake is very near and is a perfect place to check out. This is no place for people who don’t like to enjoy themselves. Mayo Beach is close to Sandy Point State Park which is a delightful location. Mayo Beach gets a typical amount of precipitation; May is the month that gets the most rain, and the driest month of the year is February. For the duration of the months of summer, highs commonly are in the 80's at Mayo Beach. Through the dark hours of summer temperatures descend down into the 60's. High temperatures throughout the wintertime are normally in the 40's while the cold winter nights at Mayo Beach are in the 20's.
