There are some glorious whitewater spots on Hammonasset River; Paynes Point is nearby and always brilliant to stop by. If you want a brilliant time in the great outdoors, just come on down to Short Beach. Wharton Brook State Park   is a good site to take a look at on a wonderful day, and a tour to nearby Horton Point is very relaxing. Beacon Hill is clearly visible from Short Beach, and folks from New Haven-Milford love to come here. There are great places to look at along the Regicides Trail; you might also want to pay a visit to Five Foot Rock since you're here at Short Beach. If you want to take a look at some exciting stuff, take a look at Cow and Calf, and you can spend the day on the beach at Front Beach. You'll wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the fun things at Short Beach. Twin Lakes Golf Course is a perfect golf course close by; you need to explore Blyn Rock while you're here. During the summertime months highs here at Short Beach reach the 80's, and through summer nights temperatures are in the 60's. High temperatures all through the wintertime are normally in the 30's, and nighttime lows during the wintertime for Short Beach tend to be in the 20's.
