If time allows, Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area is a national park worth checking out, and a day at North Beach is time well spent. A tour to Leo Carrillo State Park when you're here at Yerba Buena Beach is a good idea, and a splendid place is Little Sycamore Canyon.
